Romance Novel Bingo

Have you ever played romance novel bingo?

I've been watching Shallow Reader's bingo games for a while now and have been wanting to join in, but never seem to get around to it. So I was wondering - what if we all played a hand together? There's nothing the LovCats and our readers can't achieve if we put our mind to it!

Here's how we'll play - just leave a comment if you've read a book in March that covered one (or more) of the boxes. Just name the book and the square in your comment. You can cross off as many squares as you want / are able to. Let's see if we can get the whole board between us!

So, who wants to join in? Also, if you think you can get a line on your own, feel free to jump over to Shallow Reader's post and leave her a comment.

Edited: Here's the updated bingo sheet, showing which squares we've already crossed off. Thanks, Michelle, Susanne, Louisa, Helen, Bron, Lyn, and Ally!

  1. What fun, Rachel! Is it only for romance novels? If so I've only read one this month that wasn't a contest entry. So...

Stef's MR DANGEROUSLY SEXY: Love Thy Neighbour

If we can add women's fiction:
    Liane Moriarty's THE HUSBAND'S SECRET: 45

And if we can add literary fiction:
Elizabeth Harrower's THE WATCH TOWER: Father Figure

    :-)

    1. Michelle, Shallow Reader will take any reading you did in March, even cereal packets. :)

Very cool for 3 squares! We're rocking it already!

  2. It's All Greek to Me - could be the illiterate hero in Deborah O'Brien's "The Rarest Thing", or Juanita Kees' "Finding Paradise: The Gods of Oakleigh"

    1. Thanks, Helen! I think you've done it perfectly. Out of interest, what was the bodily fluid in the Sarah Barrie book? With the word Hunter in the title I'm imagining blood, for some reason :)

  7. Rachel, what a great idea! I'm rushed for time so I'll have to come back to this. Smiling though as your 'It's all Greek to Me' corresponded with the book I'm editing (and checking the language). I've never played romance novel bingo. Love the idea.

  8. I have some!

PRETTY: Pretty Face by Lucy Parker (explains itself really)

TERRIBLY SAD: the secret at the heart of Belgravia by Julian Fellowes is terribly, terribly sad...especially given revelations late in the book (argh!)

INDEPENDENCE/HEROINE/MARCH: could all apply to Devil in Spring by Lisa Kleypas, with a superbly independent heroine who does not want to marry and lose her burgeoning business (which is designing board games, as it happens, although more Monopoly than Bingo!) Also, March would be spring in the UK, so...

    2. Bron, your reading has been perfectly tailored for this! Thanks for all the ticks.

Re: Romance Bingo, it's all Vassiliki Veros / Shallow Reader's idea. That woman is a genius. :)

  9. I have just read Dani Collins His Mistress with Two secrets and the heroine Cannai is one of the most independent heroines I have read for a long time so maybe independence :)

  10. I think it was via you that I first saw this concept on Shallow Reader's blog.
    My additions:
Independence - Heart of the Billionaire by J.S. Scott since the heroine is determined to stand on her own two feet, as is her best friend who is the heroine of the first book in the same series.
The Black Moment - assuming that I'm understanding what the black moment is correctly from recent FB posts about the OWL on Black Moment - The Billionaire's Salvation by J.S. Scott, on the basis of the time lost by the hero and heroine when she goes into hiding due to an ex-boyfriend and her trying to leave the hero again due to that ex (not knowing the ex is dead)

Check the comments again this weekend, as I'll check the dates on my read books to see what else I've read in March that will match squares. I'm a bit behind in actually doing the recording off Goodreads of what I've read.
