I'm a huge series fan. Some of my favs over the years (aside from my LoveCat colleagues because that goes without saying!) have been the Stephanie Plum series from Janet Evanovich, Laura Kaye's Hard Ink series, the Tomorrow When The War Began series, the Sidelined series by Ainslie Paton, SEP's Chicago Stars series, the Alex Cross series from James Patterson and Kelly Hunter's West family series.

Series Love Revisited with Louisa George

We were talking a few weeks ago about book series but I have another kind of series love...

I think I'm the last person on earth to have finally fallen victim to the addiction that is Game of Thrones. When everyone was raving about it and wringing their hands at the last episode of season 5 I was blissfully ignorant of what the heck the problem was. Until... Boxset!

We have a habit in our house of coming late to popular TV series, but when we do eventually succumb we GLOM all the episodes as quickly as we can. It's a huge indulgence, a feast of watching and it's become our norm.

In the past year we've GLOMMED (I love that word!) a few series; House of Cards (US version), Broadchurch, Breaking Bad... and now, of course, GOT which is currently 50 episodes long...Gulp!

But I love the total immersion and can see why series are popular both in TV form and now, latterly, in book form. It's nice these days not to have to wait until next week for the next episode, although it can mean a few late nights when you stay up for 'just one more episode' (Yeah, we do that a lot).

It also has its down sides- I am totally absorbed in the one thing and am currently feeling just a little anti-social knowing that there's a TV, a soft sofa and 40 more episodes to go!!! I don't want to start watching anything else until I've finished my fix! And, obviously, concentrating on just the one show means I'm missing out on the new ones!

Series Book Love

My latest release, What Happens in Charleston... is part of a 6 book continuity, DYNASTIES: THE KINCAIDS which made it a bit more special and fun to write.

There were six authors on an eLoop, all discussing things like the overarching plot of the books, the details about family Sunday lunches and what a little boy would call his aunts. Fun!

 All the stories are about the rich, powerful Kincaid family, and I was given the second son (well, I should say the second *legitimate* son!), Matthew Kincaid. From the back cover:

Writing one book in a series about a complicated family made me think about other series I've started then gobbled up. Some recent ones I've loved:

The Lucky Harbor books by Jill Shalvis - I've read the first two, Simply Irresistible and The Sweetest Thing, and have the third on my bedside table. Gorgeous!

The Harry Potter series, which weren't recent reads but I did recently buy the last movie, so it still feels recent and I still don't want to leave that world.

The Outback Baby books, with Their Newborn Gift by Nikki Beynon, The Cattleman, the Baby and Me by Michelle Douglas and One Small Miracle by Melissa James. Beautiful stories!

The Spymaster books by Joanna Bourne. This was thanks to a tip from Helen in the comments to a post a couple of months ago where I was asking for recommendations. She recommended one of these, and I tried My Lord and Spymaster from the library. Adored it, so am now in the process of buying them all. Thanks, Helen!

And one I haven't read yet but can't wait to get my hands on: Kylie Griffin's Vengeance Born and Alliance Forged. I love a good fantasy and these promise to be fabulous.
