Small Things

They say small things amuse small minds, dont they? And so it was a few nights ago when I was in bed with my iPad reading on my Kindle app and discovered I could make it talk to me via the translate feature I stumbled upon quite accidentally. Set it from English to English, highlight some text and hey presto! It reads the highlighted text to you.

So, of course, you know what I did right? Der! I went to the first sex scene and highglighted it :-) Man, it was hysterical! And then I couldn't stop. I had to wake up my husband to show him. He didn't think it was so funny. In fact I think he may have grumbled something like preferring to be woken for actual sex at almost one in the morning but I was undeterred - hours of fun I tell you!

I even recorded a portion of the Sunday Smooch I posted here yesterday as read by my lovely translator voice who I have come to think of as Chuck. But alas...I can't upload as it wont take audio files. Sad Face.

But here's another something silly that amused me recently too!  I got it fom FB via this link http://motleynews.net/2013/06/30/how-to-wash-a-cat/
Facebook is good for that, dont you think? (click on the image to make it larger so you can read)

Is there anything silly out there there that makes you laugh no matter how juvenile?

What I'm Loving Right Now

Apart from Easter chocolate, especially these lush handmade beauties from Winnow Chocolates, I'm loving the sync between Kindle and Audible versions of my reading.

I read most often on Kindle but I hosted a family get-together for Easter -- a lazy lunch for 44 -- which involved considerable preparation. Much house-cleaning, gardening, cooking in advance, and some painting: a project low on my To-Do list until the influx of visitors.

We all agree that the only way to clean is with an audiobook in your ears, am I right?

So, over the past weeks I've heard a lot of hours of book narration BUT for my night reading I prefer the Kindle. I can read faster and I tire of wearing earphones which cut me off from other conversations. My dh tires of repeating questions/comments when, eyes glazed and mind deep in storyland, I lift an earphone and murmur "Were you talking to me?"

This is the beauty of whispersync between the 2 versions and I am a fan. I only wish this facility was more widely and consistently available. Even within popular series it is not always available. I've been binging on two series: CJ Box's Joe Pickett series (suspense/thrillers set in the Wyoming/Montana Rockies) and a re-read of JD Robb's In Death series (I'd missed too many over too long to pick up again without revisiting.)

BUT not all books are whispersync for voice ready.  Annoying but since the Easter clean is over I can return to my Kindle knowing that next major clean will be made bearable thanks to the beauty of audible books which sync with my Kindle.

Do you listen to audiobooks?  What are you reading/listening to this long weekend?
