Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened...

2016 has been a sad year for those of us who love British comedy with the deaths of Ronnie Corbett and Victoria Wood ...these people framed for me what 'funny' was as I grew up; they helped me through some dark times and made my world a better place.

You always knew they would make you feel better, so I want salute their memories and remind us of their art...here's a few laughs and a thank you to them for making my life a whole lot better with them in it.

Victoria Wood and Alan Rickman (who also died this year....*sigh*) It's 8 minutes long so sit back and enjoy.... some fun at the romance world's expense...

My most favourite Victoria Wood song...ever!

The Two Ronnies...best sketch ever...

Any other funny sketches or series/books you turn to when you're feeling down? Who makes you laugh? Who are the best comedians at the moment?

  1. Thank you Louisa I did enjoy those and it is sad when we lose people who have made a difference in our lives especially ones that have made us laugh :)

I am not a big TV watcher so I am not sure who is good at the moment on the last cruise we were on there were a couple of comedian that made me laugh so much my jaw ached but of course I can't remember their names now

    1. Always good when you have such a laugh, Helen, isn't it? When I've been to see a comedian I often try to remember some of their jokes, but I just don't have the knack at telling them the way the professionals do!

  2. I loved Alan Rickman - can't believe he's not here anymore. He played so many great characters. Ronnie C too.

I can't really name any comedians, but two TV series that make me laugh are Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine, Nine. Both a great for a laugh.

  3. What a rough year we've had losing great artists! Seems like every week we're hearing of another icon passing away :(

I actually don't watch a lot of comedy but I always enjoyed The Office (both versions, actually) and I love Brooklyn 99 with Andy Samberg. Quite different types of comedy, but they never fail to put a smile on my face :)

    1. I loved The Office, too Stef! Such a great show and sooooo cringeworthy!!! Second person to recommend Brooklyn 99, so I must check it out!

  4. I remember watching the Two Ronnies when I was younger and always loving the humour in their skits. So clever! I've always loved British humour and its subtleties. Mr Fix-It received two seasons of The Last Of The Summer Wine for Christmas and we love watching those, too. Always good for a chuckle.

    1. Oh, yes Last of the Summer Wine- hilarious!!! I think I do love the British shows more than the US ones...although I'm going to try some of the recommendations here and I may change my mind!

  5. I LOVED those clips, Louisa! We really have lost some absolute icons this year, but I'm so grateful the world had the chance to revel in their talents.

Oh, there are so many comedians that I love...some who are getting on a bit too, which almost makes me afraid to name them! But Billy Connolly, Jo Brand, the crew from Black Books...the Monty Python gang. And do you remember those cracking old Brit comedies like The Good Life, Yes Minister and To The Manor Born? Like others here I'm leaning towards British Comedy too. :-) I could keep going on...Absolutely Fabulous, The Vicar of Dibley... ;-)
