Happy 'strailya Day

It's Australia Day today. A day for us all to celebrate and be proud of our country and it's achievements and, particularly in the present world climate, realise how damn lucky we are to live in a country so free from internal strife. I do wish we celebrated this day on a date that was less contentious for our first nation peoples and it is my fervent hope that this may one day come to pass but in the mean time it's a day for us all to pull out the cricket set and find a BBQ somewhere.

My family celebrated yesterday at my brother's house which is on the waterfront and after a week of rain the sun was shining!

I hope you enjoy these nice sunny snap shots.

Lamingtons, Burger Rings, Cheezels, Twisties and Clinkers! An Aussie Day sugar overload!
New cricket esky complete with own stumps about to debut on Aussie TV
Beach cricket - Aussie day tradition

Gorgeous sunny day - aren't all these colours so fabulous on the eye?

Where are you for and how do you celebrate your national day?

PS - fancy supporting an Aussie today? My Aussie Heroes novella is now out at all good etailers :-)

  5. Happy Australia Day! It was also Auckland Anniversary day here (175 years!)- we've just returned from a camping holiday so my day was spent washing and unpacking....

  6. Happy Australia Day, Amy. It also happens to be my wedding anniversary (eloping to England and being married on Australia Day had a certain ring to it). We relaxed and ate many naughty things, drank bubbles and were very grateful for the cooler weather after our 36'C day previously. :-)

    1. Board games and walks on the beach sounds perfect, Jen!
Love my cover too. It was basically an image I chose myself so I've loved it from the beginning.

  9. I'm a bit late--I was out having heaps of fun yesterday. The pics look great though, Amy. And who could have Australia Day without lamingtons? :)

  10. Exactly! Although I'm waiting for one of our cousins from across the ditch to pipe up and dispute the good old lammy's origions 😜

  11. I'm late too, Amy but I just wanted to say what great photos! Looks like you had an awesome day! And look at those cricket stump eskies! I've seen them on shorts on the TV and thought they looked like the most brilliant idea!
