And now for today's Sunday Smooch from Kamy Chetty........

After a tour at war and countless shifts in the hospital emergency room, Nick knows that no matter how hard he tries to change things, people are the same. So when his estranged wife Skylar reveals that she stopped taking birth control and is pregnant, he shouldn't be shocked. Betrayal burns and panic sets in as memories of his shattered home life remind him that he can’t play happy families.
Skylar knows one thing—she’s head over nurse’s shoes in love with the stubborn and unemotional Nick. She loves him enough to believe in the man he is, even though he can’t see it for himself and hides behind a mask. As he calls their child “hers” and tries to live apart from her, Skylar’s heart breaks, but she refuses to give up hope that he’ll do the right thing.
When disaster strikes, Skylar realizes Nick might never change, so she risks everything and sets him free, hoping he’ll come back, for her and their baby. Is heat, passion and a vow enough to seal this marriage and make them a family?

Scene set-up: [Skye comes back home after a traumatic shift at work and finds herself in Nick's room. Feeling vulnerable she finds herself in the arms of her estranged husbands' arms.]

He lifted a finger and traced the path of a tear along her cheek.  Then he bent his head and traced the same path with his tongue. With the taste of salt still tangy on his tongue and the heat and softness of her skin, the months of not having her, the aching for her, he felt his resolve start to break.

He moved his hand to her hair, and he tucked her hair behind her ear, before tracing the shell of her ear with his tongue. Her sudden intake of breath got him hard. This was something even the Marines didn’t prepare a man for. No amount of combat could ever have prepared him for the effect Skylar would have on him. He knew she was as affected as he was.

She pulled his head down and opened her mouth, claiming his for a kiss. She tasted of coffee and mint toothpaste…and berry gloss. He groaned.

  2. Kamy, thanks for sharing with us this week. What a beaut excerpt!

My favourite medical drama right now is 'Call the Midwife' though I have to be in the right mood for it as it always seems to stir the emotions. I've been known to laugh over a good episode of 'Doc Martin' too, but haven't seen the latest ones.

  3. Thanks for sharing this excerpt with us. I currently don't have a medical drama that I watch. I have already read One Night She Would Never Forget. Just stopping by to say hello to the Lovely ladies at Love Cats and Kamy. Continued success everyone!

  4. Hi Kamy, thank you for sharing. My fave medical drama is Shorties... hahahah, just kidding (kiwi joke). Actually I would have to say I'm still a fan of Greys Anatomy even tho it's gone on and on and on and on. I do remember tho when I was really little my mum would watch Young Doctors and I remember wanting to be a nurse because of the "cool" uniforms lol.

  5. Hi Kamy, thanks for sharing some of Skylar and Nick's story. I don't watch too many medical dramas. Its too hard when you husband is a doctor - he picks all the shows to pieces. For example,"the Xray back to front" or "that condition wouldn't present like that" - that sort of thing! Just a little distracting!! But I too liked Dr Martin.

  6. Hi Kamy, welcome to the LoveCats!

Like Annie, I love Call The Midwife - such great emotion in all the relationships. And Doc Martin is heaps of fun - the townspeople are all so quirky.

  7. Snap! That's 3 for Call The Midwife. I love the characters -- they're all so different but so easy to relate to.

Kamy, welcome to the LoveCats! Breathe Again sounds wonderfully intense and emotional -- exactly my kind of read. :-)

  8. Recently I finished watching the whole 8 seasons of House. And loved it! And I used to religiously watch Shortland Street ever since it started in '82 I think?

But now I do miss Shortland Street here and there as it has turned too modern. But I watch Private Practice and Greys.

This-Call The Midwife is completely new to me so I'm off to google it.

I loved reading your Medical Romances Kamy and congratulations on the release of BREATHE AGAIN!

  13. Hi everyone. I am so sorry I have been absent but I have the bug that is going around:-( now I don't know 'Call the midwife' but it seems like so something I would love. As for 'House' I have said it before that man is brilliant. I also love 'Greys Anatomy' but I don't like my favourite characters getting killed off, which makes sense because I am a romance writer.
Thanks for having me and thank you all for visiting. I really do hope you enjoy these books;-)

  14. Hi Kamy, hope you're feeling better, I know the bug you're talking about, it's hit my friends and family too, our house has luckily not been hit too back but I try think of it as a good time to put the feet up and try and fit in a few more pages of reading :)
