It’s Girl Time!

Some of the best times in my week involve “girl” time.

Where else would girls go for morning tea?
I have coffee at the same cafe each week with one friend and we love taking a breath from jobs and kids to talk about dreams and share a piece of the naughtiest looking cake in the cabinet.

I have a monthly Friday night drink date with another friend and there’s always a cocktail or two and a moan about the bad and cheer about the good. There’s writing group every second Tuesday, book club monthly on a Wednesday, and regular Skypes with girlfriends who live far away. At each of these outings I get to have fun with women who inspire me, make me laugh and make me realise how important the girls in my life are.

Arriving at the airport.

This week there’s even more girl time than usual as my twin girls (who are NEARLY 13!!) and I have flown up to the BIG city to stay with my sister. I figure it's my duty to initiate the girls into everything that's great about being a girl and we're going to have nearly a week of it. Yep, I'm succumbing to all the stereotypes and we'll be shopping, eating chocolate, getting our nails done, seeing a great rom-com and we couldn't be more excited.

OMG there are even shops inside the airport!

The girls and I have travelled before but always with the boys who, funnily enough, don't see the joy in shopping for the perfect skirt or searching out the best hair tie.

I haven't fully succeeded in the girl stakes, though, as we're missing the One Direction concert by a week but there are certain girl things I don't feel as though I qualify for anymore....

Design your own yoghurt sundae for lunch! Which genius thought of that? A girl, obviously.
I'm hoping that my girls will always want to do this sort of thing with me, just as I still love girls' day outs with my mum and sister. What's top of your list for girl time?
