And now for today's Sunday Smooch from Italian Surgeon To The Stars

Celebrity heart surgeon Dr Alessandro Lucioni may be gorgeous, but I will never forget what we shared in Paris five years ago or how he broke my heart! Except now he’s standing in front of me, asking for my help with his young niece - and determined to pick up where we left off! But this time I won’t be his consolation prize. I will remain strong! Yet with the memories of those magical, blazing nights swirling through my mind, he’s just so very hard to resist…

Scene set-up

Alone with Alessandro in the car, Jem goads him into thinking that she slept with many men since they broke off and pretends she was not hurt by their break up five years earlier. He retaliates by stopping the car…

Smooch  -

The engine hadn’t even died when Alessandro’s strong arms pulled me towards him and his mouth came crashing down on mine.

His mouth tasted of mint and anger and lust and longing. The same intense longing I could feel throbbing through my own veins. His lips moved over mind with devastating expertise, demanding I open to him with a bold stab of his tongue.

I had recklessly taunted the tiger and now I was experiencing the full force of his reaction. And, quite frankly, I was loving every pulse-racing second of it.

I received him with a sound of approval that came from somewhere deep inside of me. I wound my arms around his neck, fisting my hands into the thickness of his hair, and kissed him back with all the pent-up passion that had been lying in hibernation for what seemed most of my life.

His freshly shaved jaw scraped the skin of my face as he changed position to deepen the kiss. His arms relaxed their iron grip on me and moved to cup one of my breasts in a caressing and yet possessive movement that made my insides twist and contort with lust. His other hand went to the nape of my neck, under my hair. He knew instinctively it was one of my most sensitive erogenous zones. As his fingers moved in amongst those finer hairs, I tingled all over and my toes curled in my shoes.

He slowly pulled back from me but my lips clung to his as if they didn’t want to let him go. He cradled my face in his hands - a gesture that was sure to win any girl’s heart, in my opinion. I looked into his molasses-dark eyes that were glittering with hot-blooded desire and felt another fissure open like a fault line in the cold, hard armour around my heart…

  1. I know that there were things about Mum that embarrassed me. However I can't think of any of them now - which I mainly put down to having lost her 13 and a half years ago. I guess after this long I prefer to remember the good things about her.

    1. Hi Lyn,
I'm so sorry you lost your mum. But how lovely that you only think of good things now.

    1. Hi Helen,

Firstly, thanks for all the wonderful things you've been saying everywhere about this book. You are a honey!

I love your Dad's nickname. But I can see how it would be embarrassing for you. xx

    3. Hi Nas,
That is a cute nickname! I used to get called Myrtle the Turtle by my siblings when I was a kid. I'm not sure why. I used to hate it, though!

Always lovely to hear from you. xxx

  5. My Dad is my hero. When I was young, I was embarrassed when he spoke to strangers. Now I do it. Happy Father's Day to my Dad in heaven now.

    1. Hi Tammy,
OMGoodness! My dad still does that! He can literally talk to anyone at any time about anything, even if the other person is not the least bit interested. But like you, I will miss him when he's gone. He is very elderly now and frail.
Thanks for dropping by and sharing.

  6. Fabulous Smooch, Melanie! Love that sizzling chemistry between Alessandro and Jem!

As for embarrassing parents... I remember Mum used to get the name of my very favourite band wrong everytime. Very eye-roll-worthy I thought in my teenage-ness! You know, in hindsight, I think she was probably just winding me up! LOL

    1. Hi Sharon,
Oh yes! The band name mix up. I remember that well. It's a good parental trick-wished I'd thought of using it myself. LOL

  7. Great smooch between Alessandro and Jem, Malanie.

Embarrassing parents!!! Hmm, where do I start. So many stories, too little time.

Mine where those over protective ones that would walk into parties hours before they finished to pick me up (that's if I was allowed to go in the first place)! Of course it looks like I'm heading in the same direction with my kids, poor things!!

    1. Hi Jennifer,

It's amazing how much of how we've been parented comes out as we parent our own kids!

Thanks for posting. Always lovely to hear from you. xx

  8. I have to say I was never embarrassed by my parent's antics and there were a lot of them. I think it's because most of the time I saw the funny side or it was an insider joke that only family would get.

    1. Hi Mary,
Lucky you! I spent most of my childhood ( and adulthood) cringing.
I love family insider jokes, though. We have them in our family. Such a laugh.

      Thanks for dropping by!

  9. Hello Melanie and Sharon.
I really like this your new book. Beautiful alchemy that exists between Alessandro and Jem and the fact that it is written in the first person by the protagonist. I like the cover.
My parents have never done anything to embarrass me, my father died many years ago and I still have my mother.

  10. Melanie, thanks for visiting us here at the LoveCats! I think I'm going to love Jem and Alessandro - they sound like they still have the sparks flying even if there has been a break of 5 years!

  11. Ooh, fabulous smooch, Melanie! Am loving the heat Alessandro and Jem are generating. :-)

As for embarrassing parents -- you mean to say they're supposed to stop embarrassing us once we've grown up? ;-)

    1. Hi Tatiana,
I can imagine that would have been very embarrassing. I know a lot of people have experienced similar with parents with addictions. It seems to be a bigger problem than ever.
      Thanks for sharing.

  14. Mom called me Toad for years, despite me pleading with her to stop. One year (in my latter teens, I think), I figured out to call her Frog, and she finally quit calling me Toad.
