Revisiting the Past

My first two books are being re-released in Australia in July as part of the Bestseller Collection. It was a gorgeous surprise and I'm totally in love with the cover - the colours, the sparkly pattern under the titles, the cover model, the tone.

Funny thing - even though it's only been a few years since these books were originally released, it still feels ages ago. I've met several new heroes since Damon and Nico were a daily part of my life, and become friends with other heroines since Lily and Beth. It will be like visiting old friends to see how they're going!

Which makes me think of other things I'd like to revisit and never seem to get around to.

I have a half-knitted dog blanket sitting in a basket that I haven't worked on for about three years. (I only knit dog blankets because the dogs don't notice or care about the irregularities in the knitting.) I should get that out and do some more, maybe when the TV is on.

I also have a pile of movies on video that I'd like to see again. Problem is I don't have a video player anymore, so I either need to buy them on dvd or rent them. (And what does one do with videos when one's video player has broken and not been replaced?)

So tell me, what's something from your past that you'd like to revisit. I'll choose one commenter and send them a copy of  double book in the picture: The Blackmailed Bride's Secret Child & Claiming His Bought Bride).

  1. Bonding with my newborn(s) when first breast feeding. Makes me warm all over just thinking about it.

  2. Rachel, congratulations on the rerelease of these titles. Lovely news!

I think I'd love to revisit the fun we used to have reading aloud to the children. Even when they were old enough to read a book themselves I used to sometimes read a book to them both and it was a special treat for all of us discovering CS Lewis or JK Rowling together. At one stage my daughter and I took turns reading aloud - I love being read to!

  5. Annie, what gorgeous memories for you and your children. Maybe one day you'll be able to have that same fun again with grandchildren (though, one day far off in the future!).

    Thanks for the congrats. :)

  6. Rach, congratulations on your gorgeous bestseller collection -- how utterly exciting! I love the cover too -- the colours are perfect.

Something from my past that I'd like to revisit? I'd love to ride a horse again. I used to love it when I was a teenager. Wonder how I'd find it now that I'm a *ahem* touch older. :-)

  7. bn100, oh, yes! Family vacations! They can be so much fun. Is there one in particular you'd like to revisit?

  8. Michelle, you totally should go horse riding again! In fact, didn't you promise yourself that exact thing for finishing a book a while ago...? =)

  9. You have an excellent memory, Rach, I did. And I haven't sallied forth on that particular adventure yet. But I will...and I may even take pictures. Actually, that could make for an interesting (and possibly comical) blog post. ;-) Shall I report back once I've done it?

  10. Yes! Please do! Looking forward to that post already. :)

  11. Congratulations Rachel on getting your books re published on the bestseller collection. I have read 'The Bramson Inheritance' collection and totally loved it.

Something from my past that i would love to re-visit is a particular family vaction in Australia where we spent the week visiting all the Theme Parks on the Gold Coast.

  12. Hi Rach, very excited for you about the bestseller collection.

I would love to revisit my wedding - best party ever. I'd even like to do with the same man which I think is pretty good considering we've been married (arrh - I can never remember) 15 years (I think - have never been good with dates). xx

  13. I'd love to revisit a time when the kids were young and our dogs were puppies. One family poodle was put down late last year. Our almost 17 yo poodle was sent to doggie heaven just the other day. It's hard to believe all that time has passed.
Congrats on your Bestsellers Collection, Rachel! Love the cover.
PS, Annie, my 10yo was reading Narnia to me just this morning. As a kid, it was my favourite book in the universe.

  14. Sonali, a Gold Coast vacation? Sounds fabulous. You should start planning for another one, even if it takes a few years to make it happen!

Thanks for the congrats, and for letting me know you loved the Bramson Inheritance books - they were some of my favourites. =)

  16. Robyn, it's sooo hard to say goodbye to pets we've loved, isn't it? Hugs on giving up your poodles.

I'd love to spend more time with the two chocolate Labradors I had about 10 years ago. Though I'll probably feel the same about the ones I have now in a few years, so I might just pop over and give them all a hug now. :)

  17. Hi Rachel - congratulations on your Bestseller release. What a fabulous achievement. What would I like to revisit - I like to spend a day with my Dad and tell him how much I appreciate the way he gave me a lifelong love of books.

And Michelle - I have eight horses, you're welcome to come to visit and take one for a ride along the beach anytime :)

  18. Helen, a day with your dad - *perfect* choice. I'll have one of those as well. I miss mine.

Oh, Michelle - there's an offer! A trip to Qld. I'll start planning now. =)

  19. My Father has Alzheimers. I'd like to go back and catch hold of all the memories of him that I had not stored away. He no longer remembers, so I want to remember for us both.

  24. I'd choose more time with my mum to say what was never said because we were going to be there for each other forever - and when you're only 23, forever is a long, long time. Only it wasn't... And it has been a long, long time without her! Ongoing happiness would be listening to my children's - and now grandchildren's - cheeky giggles on replay! ;-)
Congratulations Rachel, the book looks superb! (Does it come wrapped in chocolate too?)

  25. Clare, seems like there are a few of us who'd like more time with a parent who's gone. Though, 23 is young so hugs for all the time without her.

Oh, cheeky giggles are indeed happiness! Here's to you hearing a lot more of them from the grandkids. :)

No chocolate on the book, but you make a good point - when the box of author copies arrives, I should celebrate with chocolate!

  26. Congratulations on your wonderful stories being re-released in a Bestseller duo, Rachel! Great to revisit Lily and Damon and Nico and Beth and all wrapped up in a gorgeous cover!

As for things to revisit in my life... there are a few! When we've finished our trip my DH and I are going to revisit our rock and roll classes! We've let it slip away with one thing and another and it's soooo much fun and great exercise!
