I'm writing a new book and a new book means a new writing playlist. But over the years I've used up all my favourite songs for various books and I'm in desperate need of some new songs. So, please, hit me with some recommendations!
To give you an idea of the sorts of songs I'm looking for - generally, ones that are filled with emotion work the best, and not too fast. Actually, how about I show you some that have worked well...
So, I have an iTunes card and my clicking finger is ready - hit me with your recommendations!

At this moment, I'd say Maroon 5's Sugar. The video is phenomenal! Great concept! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteLaney, I just watched the video, and that is *so* cool. Now I have the song playing over in my head. :)
DeleteOne Direction History and When We Were Young - Adele
ReplyDeleteTammy, I love Adele, and for some reason I haven't had her on my writing playlists before. Thanks for the idea!
DeleteJust watched the video for History - such a cute look back. And good song too - thanks!
You know the song I'm loving the most at the moment,Rach? It might seem like an odd choice but Justin Biebers Love Yourself is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteAmy, that does sound like an odd choice! I haven't even heard it before. Will go check it out...
DeleteOoh, you have some nice songs listed there, Rach!
ReplyDeleteThree have immediately popped to mind:
Adele: Rolling in the Deep
Avril Lavigne: Wish You Were Here
Taylor Swift: I Knew You Were Trouble
Playlists are such fun! Hope you have a ball with it. :-)
Hi Rachel
ReplyDeleteI don't tend to listen to the newer music these days I am a big lover of 70's music and I can recommend Rod Stewart's Reason to Believe and Mandolin Wind as well as Have I told You Lately That I love you and The Eagles have a few very nice ballads as does Harry Nilson Without You :)
Have Fun
Helen
Hey Rachel,
ReplyDeleteNick Cave is my go-to for emotion. Something about his music just slides in and curls over my heart.
Good luck with your playlist and the new book!
Cath xo
I'm no help as my current faves are my perennial (?sp) faves. Things like Muse's Supermassive Blackhole; anything by The Eagles, but especially Tequila Sunrise or Hotel California; anything by Queen, but especially Bohemian Rhapsody; and many others.
ReplyDeleteSimilar tempo to these, although I have to be in the right space to listen to them is Fleetwood Mac. I do love the songs from Fleetwood Mac, but as Don't Stop was chosen as one of the songs for Mum's funeral (she'd had me download it for her the day before she died) it can sometimes be a really positive listen and other times put me in tears.
I'm coming back to this post though for the songs you included.
