A little celebration.....

I'm having a little celebration this week....it's five years ago today that I got the call from my agent to say that Harlequin wanted to buy my book. It was a long road to publication....eighteen rejections over twenty three years, but that day I forgot about how hard it had been. I'd sold my book!

As I finish writing my tenth contracted book for Harlequin Special Edition, I think about how lucky I have been and the wonderful author friends I've made along the way, and how blessed I've been to have connected with readers all over the world.

I've also been fortunate to be part of the new LoveCats Box Set called Hot Christmas Nights. Seven authors, seven brand new novellas. Available for Pre-order here....

There are many milestones in our lives - birthdays, weddings, anniversaries...and for an author, selling that first book and/or seeing that first book on the shelf.

Are there any milestones you like to celebrate? Do you have a big birthday coming up? An anniversary?

Leave a comment and I will draw one winner to receive any book from my backlist (Including my January 2016 release Three Reasons To Wed)

Happy reading!

  2. What a wonderful anniversary, Helen! Congratulations. :-)

Laughing at your question because the only milestone I want to celebrate at the moment is my current book (but the end is in sight!). :-)

  4. Congratulations Helen on your publishing anniversary! That's definitely worth celebrating.
One anniversary I always celebrate is November 11. Not just because it's Remembrance Day with all the reasons we have to remember. But because on that day 27 years ago, my husband and I got officially engaged. That's nice, you might say. But it happened on exactly the day a fortune teller had told me eight years previously that I would start a new cycle of my life with the love of my life. Spooky! I hadn't thought about that prediction for years and didn't realise the significance of the day until hours later. (We're still together, BTW!)

  7. Congratulations, Helen. Lovely to celebrate this milestone.
I like celebrating wedding anniversaries, not with gifts but with a romantic meal.
I also celebrate each book sold.

Every birthday is a big deal in our family. Considering the longevity of family members that's a lot of partying.

  10. Other than the main big birthdays and things like graduations, I can't think of any other milestones that I celebrate.

Great milestone for you to celebrate and I'm sure it made everyone of your rejections feel worth the effort to write.

  12. Congratulations! Happy you finally broker through.

We like to celebrate all milestones large and small. Edging closer to our 50th anniversary in a couple of years so that will be a big one. Also 2 years of retirement, woo hoo, couldn't wait for that one - more time to read ;-).
