Wide open spaces! |
I thought I'd take you on a pictorial tour of our trip to see friends in Outback NSW. They run the Four Corners Farmstay and have this seriously cool logo:
Have pillow, ready for sleepover! |
While I was playing around the puddles, I found this really clear kangaroo paw print - interesting dimples in the heel...
Actually, I just noticed this weird visual effect - if I put the picture the other way around the heel looks like an "outdent" rather than an indent! Does it do the same for you?
I think my photographic fascinations can be summed up as reflections, sunsets and "up close and personal"! Here are a few small things that couldn't/didn't run away!
Lace of spider silk & water droplets |
We tripped out to find the geographical centre of NSW.
Yep, we found it & have the picture to prove it! |
A quiet spot for lunch |
Laundry to go! |
yep, more reflections! |
Sunrise on the lake the next morning was pretty spectacular...
And the galahs looked so gorgeous with the early morning light on their rose-pink breasts...
We're back home now! It's lovely to go away, but always wonderful to get back home... even if it is cold and wet here at the moment!
Thanks for taking this little tour with me! When I first travelled through the outback, many years ago now, I found the flatness and the hugeness of it daunting but now I really love it! So do you like wide open spaces or do you prefer the cosiness of rolling hills?
Hi Sharon
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely pictures thank you for sharing this is one place I would love to visit maybe one day and yes I love those wide open spaces and I love getting away on road trips although they don't happen enough LOL but again it is always great to get back home.
Have Fun
Helen
Thanks, Helen! I do hope you get to travel to the Outback soon - it's a fascinating place. I guess one of the difficulties is that Australia is so huge that distances to get places are correspondingly huge, aren't they! There are lots of places you can't go just for a long weekend get-away!
DeleteWow - what amazing photos, Sharon. I love the one of the spider's web.
ReplyDeleteI'm much more a rolling hills kind of girl. When I worked for a car company, we used to test the cars in the outback which was really fun but those wide open spaces seem to go on forever.........
Thanks, Jen! I'm very fond of a nice spider's web! LOL
DeleteRolling hills are great, too,! You never know what little treasure might be around the next bend nestled into a valley!
Hey, getting out for a long drive for a job doing a car test would have been a fab break from routine.
You make me definitely want to do a road trip through NSW, Sharon. Just lovely. Do you use a super-duper-flash camera or a point and shoot type?
ReplyDeleteYvonne, we've got two point and shoot cameras - one very small and one larger - and they both have some terrific capabilities. One of my favourite functions is the panorama setting and they've both got macro, too. The little cameras these days have all sorts of clever things they can do. Though, I confess, I'd loooooove a digital SLR but they're pretty expensive and I have lots of fun with the cameras we have.
DeleteBeautiful photos, Sharon! Your trip looks fabulous…and it's definitely giving me itchy feet!
ReplyDeleteI love the first pic showing all of those wide open spaces, but I love rolling hills too. I love coastal scenery the best, though. Hidden coves, deserted beaches and dolphins are my favourite. :-)
LOL on your itchy feet, Michelle! Us Cats are a roving lot, aren't we! Oh, I love coastal places too - restless water is fascinating and all those negative ions are supposed to be so good for creativity!
DeleteOh, what gorgeous photos, Sharon! I particularly like the photos of birds because I am a bird lover, but my favourite of all your photos here is the reflection of the sticks in the lake. Just wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Claire! I love trying to catch birds with the camera - they're so active that it's really satisfying to snap a reasonable pic. That swallow almost seemed to be posing for his portrait though - he gave me plenty of time to take his photo. I'm glad you like the lake pic... did I mention, I'm very fond of reflections! ;)
ReplyDeleteArgh, my comment has disappeared. Sharon, thank you for the wonderful photos. I think you have an excellent eye for a great shot. You captured the magic of those wide open spaces so well. I'm hoping this means a rural set romance in the planning stages...
ReplyDeleteOh, Annie, isn't it annoying when Blogger eats your comment! Thank you for your lovely words! And yes, there is an idea for an Outback romance floating about in the little grey cells! ;)
DeleteSharon ~ such lovely pictures. Thank you for sharing them. I was born in the mountains but I now live on the prairies. Any where I travel is interesting. The earth is a wondrous place.
ReplyDeleteKaelee, you are so right - it is a wondrous place! Beautiful and unusual and sometime severe. But always fascinating!
ReplyDeleteSharon, those photos are gorgeous! I especially love the birds and the wide open spaces.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I don't think I could choose between wide open spaces and rolling hills. Can I just have both? Maybe a summer house and a winter house? :)
Now there is the perfect solution, Rachel! Can I have what you'd like too! ;)
