So, I've been overseas and had the *best* time and instead of doing a full on blog today I thought I'd just share some of my pics - hope that's okay by everybody. If you don't want to see boring pics of Paris and London and Scotland though, I understand perfectly if you want to mosey on to another blog :-)
London First. And the weather was glorious! Also caught up with some KISS buddies, Heidi Rice and Fiona Harper who took me to a great pub nearby for some drinkees. And yes, it is a shocking selfie of all of us!
Oh and my book, Risky Business, released while I was away - trying to do a blog tour while on holiday with unreliable internet is not recommended! Warning: cheeky sales pitch coming up. Have you got yours yet? You can click here and it will take you straight through to Amazon :-)
And I went into Richmond and caught up with the lovely Mills and Boon crew who had champagne for me and then my lovely ed, Kathryn, took me to lunch at this funky place where the food was way too pretty to eat! Although I did!
I also found my upcoming KISS/Modern Tempted release, The Heat Of The Night and 2 other of my books on shelf at WH Smith! I had a great conversation with two little old ladies who were browsing in the romance section at the time and even hand sold one of my medicals - score!
Then we had a very relaxing week on a canal boat floating around the waterways of the midlands in mostly gorgeous weather. Its a great way to relax and let the world pass you by! One of the best parts about the canals is the wonderful pubs that line them and then of course that means fabulous English pub food - our favourite! And don't my hips know it! The birdlife was also amazing - lots of little baby birdies everywhere!
After we got off the canal boat my family went off while I spent a day at the RNA conference in Telford. I met up with lots of fab writing buddies (Fiona Harper couldn't resist photo bombing me and Jessica Hart!) and even my old editor the gorgeous Lucy Gilmour.
Then we took a trip up to Scotland for a few days. This was castle territory for us. Edinburgh castle. Urquhart castle on the banks of Loch Ness and Eilean Donan castle. A mix of weather in Scotland.
We rounded our trip off in Paris. Brilliant weather in Paris, quite hot actually, but a gorgeous backdrop to famous places!
Flying home was nerve wracking given what had happened only a few days before but we flew into Brissy safe and sound and the good news is I think, a week later, I'm finally over the last of the jet lag!
Been on a holiday lately?
Amy, thanks for sharing! It looks like you had a brilliant time. The time on the narrow boat must have been enormous fun, AND you got to see fellow writers and editors. Sounds like you made the most of your time. How many pics did you take?
ReplyDeleteWe got back last month from a quick trip too. I started in Berlin for a reader convention then visited lakes and mountains in Austria, the Dolomites in N Italy and Prague. Like you, packed a lot into a short time.
Glad you have you safe home. Can't wait to see what stories this trip inspires!
I took about 700 pics Annie..... gulp!
DeleteYou're trip sounds amazeballs. Prague is one place on my must-see list!
Oooh, so jealous, AA! Your trip looks amazing! Brilliant that you could mix in some fun work activities too while you were there!
ReplyDeleteI just got back from 9 days in Hawaii- and am feeling a bit like- I had a holiday? When was that? I need another! Still, we had an amazing time, so great to step away from the keyboard for a while. Looking forward to hearing more travel stories from you! xx
I know what you mean about stepping away from the keyboard. I didn't do any writing while I was away and it was soooo good to not have to. But it makes it hard to get back into again :-/
DeleteHawaii is gorgeous, isn't it? We had 2 days there back in 2011 so 9 sounds like bliss!
Loved your holiday happy snaps, Amy! Reminded me of my trip to London and Munich last year. Off to go stare at my old pictures and dream of my next overseas jaunt now. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThat's the best bit about looking at holiday pics I reckon - gets a person all fired up to go again!
DeleteHoliday pics could never ever be considered boring. I haven't got Risky Business yet, but it is on the TBR list... which is currently so long that I'm struggling to prioritise the books on it beyond what has and hasn't yet been released.
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the TBR situation, Lyn! Mine is out of control!
DeleteWoohoo, Amy, looks like your ed took you to the same place mine did last year. Isn't it so much fun to catch up with them all? Especially since we work with them long distance.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic trip you had.
It was sooo much fun! They really give you the royal treatment over in Richmond!
DeleteHi Amy
ReplyDeleteI love the pics not boring at all :)
I haven't been on a holiday for a while but I am off on a cruise to New Zealand in November and very much looking forward to it
I have read Risky Business and loved it I highly recommend this one :)
Have Fun
Helen
Aww thanks Helen - so pleased you loved it :-)
DeleteI hope you have a lovely cruise to NZ. Is this the first time you've been cruising?
Love you pics, Amy! What fun! The people pics are gorgeous and those swan babies are so cute! And we've been to Urquhart Castle so finding that in your travel pics was extra cool! We didn't see Nessy while we were there!
ReplyDeleteMmmm, you know, I really fancy a canal boat holiday!
Glad you're home safe and sound!
No Nessy for us either, Sharon!
DeleteCanal boating would be a little tame for such an intrepid adventurer like you, Sharon!
Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing the pictures. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Claire!
DeleteNo, I'm not interested in lots of beautiful pictures of amazing places with really cool people and perfect looking cocktails. Or too-cute wildlife or that picture of apple crumble and custard. And I'm definitely not interested in fabulous pictures of pipers in front of castles or to read about perfect summer weather. I'll just go and read another blog :D
ReplyDeletelol Barb, thanks for stopping by and oggling :-)
