Normally our lovely Rachel Bailey would be here to post and chat with you today but she has no power and no internet access with the floods in Queensland at the moment so instead we're bringing you a bonus fun day today! Meet a super talented duo, Carolyn Scott and Rookie!
Thanks for sharing that, Sharon. I Googled it and found more videos. Quite a "love story".... (http://landofpuregold.wordpress.com/2008/07/15/carolyn-scott-golden-rookie-a-15-year-partnership/)
I don't get a lot of news from Down Under but I hope the floods aren't too life threatening. Have the rains killed the wildfires or are they in a different part of Australia?
Rach, I've got my fingers crossed you and yours are fine despite the awful weather emergency up there.
Kaelee, the rains have been mainly in Queensland to the NE and also in New South Wales (lower on the east side). Fires have been primarily in NSW and further south. The cold change has made a difference to the fire situation here but there's localised flooding. Not your normal summer!
Sharon, thanks for posting this terrific clip. Rookie was obviously having a ball - how wonderful to see the connection between the pair of them in this way.
Laney, I've been a bit of a chicken and hadn't gone to explore other sites just the You-tube. But that's lovely tribute to a very special dog, isn't it. Carolyn and her Rookie were an exceptional talented pair.
The situation is pretty grim and sadly there have been lives lost in the floods. And unfortunately the fires haven't all been doused by the rains. The northeast of Austalia (Queensland and Northern NSW) is sodden and on flood watch. While the southeast of Oz is still as dry as a crisp and on fire watch. Would be nice to be able to spread that rain around, wouldn't it!
That was lovely! What wonderful trust between owner and pooch. Rachel, waving madly from further down the coast. Hasn't it been just an awful few days?
Hey, Anna! You poor guys up north have been having a terrible time of it. Stay safe and dry as you can... though with that humidity on top of all the rain must be energy-sapping.
Aren't Ashleigh and Pudsey fantastic - I think we'll have to feature them in a separate blog. They more than qualify for a Wednesday Wonder spot!
Thanks, Kaelee! I'm quite excited to report that we're having some rain as I type! And I can see in the rain gauge that we're up to 5 ml - very civilised compared to poor Queensland and the 500 mls and 900 mls that they've been getting in 24-hour periods!
And Rachel now has electricity which is another fantastic development! So now they're busy cleaning up! I think they'll be pretty thrilled to be able to get water out of their taps!
Thanks for posting this, Sharon. And for all the well wishes, everyone.
We're back now with power and running water and phones, and we can leave the property any time we want to get groceries.
My thoughts are now with all the people who are still dealing with this weather, especially in Bundaberg. And the people in other parts of the country who are coping with the bushfires. Crazy times!
Sharon, that clip with Rookie was so fabulous it brought tears to my eyes - am I turning into too big a softie...?

ReplyDeleteOMG! Talk about cute. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd, Rach, were all thinking of you and praying you get electricity again VERY soon.
Lovely video.

Would give Ashleigh and Pudsey a run for their money!
ReplyDeleteA fun post in these stormy days. Thanks for sharing it.

ReplyDeleteIsn't it, Michelle!
ReplyDeleteYes, fingers crossed for everyone in those badly effected areas.
Thanks, Kaelee!

Annie, I'm glad you enjoyed the clip! Rookie does look like he's having a wonderful time, doesn't he!
ReplyDeleteApologies, I should have read your reply to Kaelee before I posted mine!
Susanne, I Googled Ashleigh and Pudsey and they're awesome! Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteHere's a link to their audition for Britain's Got Talent!

What a fun video. I've just shown it to one of my dogs, but she decided it was too exhausting to even watch, let alone do!
ReplyDeleteThanks Annie and Sharon. It would be great to be able to move some of that moisture around. I hoping things improve on both fronts.
ReplyDeleteLOL, Jo! If only training a dog was that easy!
