It's that fabulous time of year when family and friends come calling - for hours or days. I love the catching up, the meals and wines, the laughter and relaxing.
At the moment we have friends from Auckland staying who love nothing more than to get out doing things they wouldn't do in the city. Riding the motor bikes in the hills is one thing that is banned this year as sparks from exhausts are a constant worry as we move through a drought like no other in our district.
But fishing is definitely on. This is our favourite way to entertain friends. What could be better than fresh fish for dinner.
Yesterday we headed out in the Sounds to see what was biting and also dredge for some scallops on the way back.
The weather was perfect, the sea so calm we headed into the Cook Strait, and yes, the fish were biting.
Add in a bottle or two of wine and dinner was awesome.
What is your favourite way to entertain?
Hi Sue
ReplyDeleteWOW that is a great catch I have been through those Sounds and they are magnificent to be able to go there often would be awesome :)
When friends and family come to visit us we tend to go out to dinner or visit other friends and family and talk a lot LOL
Have Fun
Helen
Yes, Helen, the sounds are beautiful, and You'll know how calm that particular day was. Going out to a winery is up there on our list took which we did yesterday as we were having gale force winds and the rain that goes with them.
DeleteOh, I have to come and visit you, Sue! That all looks divine. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou're booked in, Michelle. We love spoiling friends and family.
DeleteSet an extra place for me, too, Sue :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving these one minute video recipes that pop up on FB - quick and easy, lool great, taste fabulous!
I'm already expecting you, Amy. The more the merrier.
DeleteSue, that all looks fabulous. The seafood couldn't get much fresher. Our entertaining usually involves food and a lot of chat! I love relaxing long meals (and leftovers so no cooking the next day).
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, Annie. I love that with really fresh seafood you don't need complicated side dishes, just simple salads and new spuds.
DeleteThat looks amazing, Sue!!!
ReplyDeleteI do like having people over for dinner, but as I'm not an amazing cook, I have to rely on my witty conversation to impress anyone.
Love it, Jennifer. I can't do the witty talk but I can cook. Unless I get distracted with a glass too many of wine, then anything goes.
