And now for
today's Sunday Smooch from Louisa George's USA KISS release, Enemies
With Benefits
Back cover blurb:
The last man on earth she should hook up
with!
Poppy Spencer has discovered that
there's one thing worse than Christmas alone in her flat, and that's spending
it with Isaac Blair—her sworn-enemy-turned-reluctant-flatmate! And that's not
just because he knows all her secrets…but because his sexy-as-sin smile and
taut physique are making her all hot and flustered—despite the icy cold
outside! Unless a casual hookup is just the thing she needs…? It'll
certainly break the simmering tension between them. The trouble is, with their
history, this is going to be anything but casual!
Kiss
Scene:- Set up: Flatmates Poppy and
Isaac are battling a growing attraction. They’ve agreed not to take it further…until
a night out at the ice rink…
She skated back to him, he wobbled again, reaching for her. 'Whoa.
Sorry. Legs still lost I'm afraid.'
She wobbled too, aimed to grasp his out-stretched hand but grabbed his
left thigh instead. At the top. Her voice thickened. 'No. Legs very definitely
here.' And something else too, very close to her fingertips. Her mouth dried
and his name came out on a breath.
'Oh, God,' he gasped, his eyes fixing on hers, lowering to her mouth,
back to her eyes. Something passed between them- something tacit. Suddenly her
body was awash with awareness. Just to hear his unfettered need stoked the heat
in her again.
The way he was looking at her made her think that the only way they’d
ever get through this living together thing was if they slept together, got it
over and done with and stopped pretending or waiting for it to go away, because
it wasn’t going anywhere.
He lowered his mouth towards hers. Stopped a few inches away. His
breathing sped up, but his eyes... God, her heart thumped hard and crazy
in her chest…his eyes told her what he wanted. What he needed.
But he was conflicted too. Because he knew as well as she did that
whatever happened next would draw a line under anything they'd done before.
Neither was in any doubt as to what was at stake here- where this would lead.
His misted confused gaze bore down on her.
'Just do it,' she whispered. 'Forget everything else. Forget whatever
it is that's stopping us having a little fun. I've been waiting so long to feel
this. Just do it. I want you. You want me. Easy.'
'Hell, Poppy. You say that one more time and I won't be able to stop
myself.'
She took his face in both hands- he’d rejected her twice, no way would
she try third time lucky. He had to want to do it. He had to make that move.
'Just do it.'
Then his mouth covered hers in a frenzy, a hard, fast greedy kiss that
instilled desire deeper, stronger, further inside her. He pushed her against
the barrier, spiked her hair with his fingers. That hot misted look still in
his eyes, focused on only her. Questioning. Surprised. Concerned. And yet, so
very, very sexy. ‘God, Poppy, the things you make me want to do.'
‘Do it, then. Do it all.'
Louisa
is giving away a copy of her book to one lucky commenter! So her question
to you is:
Enemies
With Benefits is a romance, but it’s also about sharing our lives with other people-
notably, our girlfriends. What’s the best mischief you get up to with your
girlfriends??
Come back
next Sunday, when the winner of today's giveaway will be announced -- and a
smooch from The Rules According To Gracie by Stefanie London will be
posted!
Hi Louisa
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy that one I really need to read this book :)
Girlfriends are the best although I probably don't get up to mischief these days I do love having long lunches over chocolate deserts and chatting for hours on end about anything :)
Have Fun
Helen
Girlfriends, chocolate, wine, chatting and laughter- pretty perfect!
DeleteLoved that smooch, Louisa!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm with Helen -- long lunches, chatting, chocolate and wine with girlfriends is on of life's pleasures. :-)
Such fun, Michelle and so special. That's why conferences rock, right?
DeleteLove!
ReplyDeleteI am a bit too old to go out clubbing now, but I do enjoy getting out and about to nice restaurants with girlfriends ,for long lunches or big group dinners. Food, wine and laughter are best shared with likeminded friends. Age does not matter. I have friends of all ages, all cultures and I love the mix, the energy and the diversity of the conversation.
ReplyDeleteSavannah, I'm with you all the way (waaaaay too old for a club!!), but lunches and dinners and laughter, regardless of age, are very special
DeleteA WOW of a smooch thank you.
ReplyDeleteI get into more mischief with my sisters, than with girlfriends. I'm not telling though. I'm keeping it in the family.
Awww, Mary....now I'm really intrigued! LOL
DeleteLove that part of the story :)
ReplyDeleteFANTASTIC FABULOUS STORY
I don't have many close girlfriends, and I currently can't think of any mischief that I've been up to recently.
Lyn, thank you so much for your kind words...you've made my day! I reckon we could all get into mischief here if we tried! That's what's so great about the internet, it brings all of us likeminded readers of romance together and we can have our own party right here!
DeleteThat last line... *fans self* great smooch!!
ReplyDeleteOh, she's pretty keen is our Poppy! LOL
Deleteno mischief just talking about all things with out watching what I say---Lyn
ReplyDeleteThat's the great thing about girlfriends, isn't it- you can be honest and open and know you'll get support.
DeleteLove this smooch! And now I feel like skating...
ReplyDelete*Must* grab a copy of this book coz I think I'm going to love it.
Funny! I have to admit in this heatwave I'm fantasising about being on ice too!
DeleteLike many others, I don't get into mischief now (and I don't think I ever did). I enjoy every moment we are together, as well as our emails and phone calls in between. We've been friends over 40 years now, with the last dozen or so the best, as now our children are grown up and we have "ME" time to enjoy. We share recipes, stories, books, and all the free things we accumulate, whether they be from the Internet, time shares, hotels, dentists' offices, or things from other friends to share. That is one of our favourite things to do together: just share. Share time together....
ReplyDeleteLaney4, that sounds truly lovely- you clearly have some very special friends x
DeleteHi Louisa, happy new year. Hope you had a lovely festive season. I absolutely loved loved loved this story and will read it again in the future! If anyone here likes connected books, it's also part of a series. All the best for 2015 x
