How to handle a powerful attraction? Get it out of your system quickly!
Lola Fraser knows better than to fall for her best friend’s brother, paramedic Hamish Gibson. Living together whilst he’s training could get awkward — fast! But as they work together on a heartrending case, they can’t resist the temptation to take their minds off work. Surely one night will be enough...until they discover it isn’t!

Hamish is sleeping on Lola's couch for one night before he heads back to the country again. They almost kissed earlier but she pulled back because he's her friend's brother and he lives a million miles away so why upset applecarts? But Lola has had a rough night at work and can't sleep and she knows there's someone not that far away who'll help her with the situation in a heartbeat.
At 2 am, she grows tired of fighting it....

But she needed to wake him first. She couldn’t just jump on him, no matter how temptingly he was lying there.

Lola clenched her fists, the sharp foil edges of the condom cutting into her palm as she took a step towards him. Her foot landed on the only squeaky floorboard in the entire room and he was awake in an instant. She froze as his abs tensed and his body furled upwards, his legs swinging over the edge of the couch. His feet had found the floor before she had a chance to take another breath.

He blinked up at her, running his palms absently up and down the length of his bare thighs. ‘Lola?’

Lola let out a shaky breath as she took a step back. ‘I guess it’s true what they say about country guys, then.’

‘Hung like horses?’ He shot her a sleepy smile. His voice was low and rumbly but alert.

She laughed and it was loud in the night. ‘Light sleepers.’

‘Oh, that.’ He rubbed his palm along his jawline and the scratchy noise went straight to her belly button. ‘Are you okay?’

Lola shook her head, her heart suddenly racing as she contemplated the width of his shoulders and the proposition she was about to lay on him. ‘I…can’t sleep.’

‘So you came out for…a cup of warm milk?’

The smile on his face matched the one in his voice, all playful and teasing, and Lola blushed. Her cheeks actually heated! What the hell?

Since when did she start blushing?

Most nurses she knew, including herself, were generally immune to embarrassment. She’d seen far too much stuff in her job to be embarrassed by anything.

‘No.’ She held up the condom, her fingers trembling slightly, grateful for the cover of night. ‘I was thinking of something more…physical.’

His gaze slid to the condom and Lola’s belly clenched as he contemplated the foil packet like it was the best damn thing he’d seen all night. ‘I have read,’ he said after a beat or two, refocusing on her face, ‘that physical activity is very good for promoting sleep.’

Lola’s nipples puckered at the slight emphasis on ‘physical activity’ and she swallowed against a mouth suddenly dry as the couch fabric. ‘Yeah.’ She smiled. ‘I read that too.’

He held out his hand. ‘Come here.’

Lola’s heart leapt in her chest but she ground her feet into the floor. They had to establish some ground rules. ‘This can only be a one-time thing.’

‘I know.’

His assurance grazed Lola’s body like a physical force, rubbing against all the good spots, but she needed to make certain he was absolutely on the same page. ‘You’re leaving tomorrow,’ she continued. ‘We’ll probably never see each other again.’ This was the first time she’d met Hamish after all, despite having lived with Grace for almost all the last two years. ‘And I’m good with that.’

‘Me too.’

‘I don’t do relationships. Especially not long-distance relationships.’

He nodded again. ‘I understand. We’re one and done. I am good with it, Lola.’

‘Also…I don’t think we should tell Grace about this.’

He sat back a little, clearly startled at the suggestion, looking slightly askance. ‘Do I look like I took a stupid pill to you?’

Lola laughed. He looked like he’d taken an up-for-it pill and heat wound through her abdomen. Hamish leaned forward at the hips and crooked his finger, a small smile playing on his wicked mouth.

‘Come here, Lola.’

The way he said her name when he was mostly naked was like fingers stroking down her belly. Lola took a small step forward, her entire body trembling with anticipation. She took another and then she was standing in front of him, the outsides of her thighs just skimming the insides of his knees.

He held his hand out and she placed the condom in his palm. He promptly shoved it under a cushion before sliding his hands onto the sides of her thighs. Lola’s breath hitched as they slid all the way up and the muscles in her stomach jumped as they slid under the hem of her T-shirt, pushing it up a little.

Leaning closer, he brushed his mouth against the bare skin, his lips touching down just under her belly button. Lola’s mouth parted on a soft gasp and her hands found his shoulders as their gazes locked. One hand kept travelling, pushing into the thick wavy locks of his hair, holding him there as they stared at each other, their breathing low and rough.

Then he fell back against the couch, pulling her with him, urging her legs apart so she was straddling him, the heat and pulse at her heart settling over the heat and hardness of him.

His hands slid into her hair, pulling her head down, his mouth seeking hers.

Her pulse thundered through her ears and throbbed between her legs and she moaned as their lips met. She couldn’t have stopped it even had she wanted to.

And she didn’t.

Sunday smooch with Louisa George

Welcome to another LoveCats DownUnder Sunday Smooch!

Today we have a smooch from Louisa George, but first ...

the winner of last week's Sunday Smooch Giveaway is Pam Swain!

Pam, can you please email Barbara DeLeo -  barb (at) barbaradeleo (dot) com (dot) to receive your copy of The Bouquet List!

And now for today's Sunday Smooch from Louisa George's new medical romance, Tempted By Hollywood’s Top Doc

Back cover blurb:
Behind the scenes…
Top-of-his-game neurosurgeon Dr. Jake Lewis has thrown himself into work in a bid to forget the past. Now, used to high-octane medical emergencies, he's furious to be temporarily assigned to pander to LA's biggest diva!
Yet when he meets headstrong assistant-to-the-stars Lola Bennett, their instant chemistry makes his new job much more tempting! He's working with her on set in the sultry Bahamas, and it's just a matter of time before that chemistry reaches boiling point…

Kiss Scene:-  Set up: Lola Bennett is the PA to one of the most famous and beautiful actresses in the world. Consequently, she’s a little suspicious of people wanting to get close to little old Lola instead of her amazing boss.

Jake caught her up and pulled her to a complete halt. ‘What…? You think…? Me? With Cameron? Are you for real?’
‘It wouldn’t be the first time that has happened to me.’
‘Hell, no. You’ve totally got this upside down. Not at all. Not at all…Has that happened before? A guy has taken you out so you could introduce him to Cameron?’
‘Yep. One too many times.’ Lola closed her eyes briefly at the memory, the sharp sting of betrayal. How gullible she’d been…and was continuing to be. Would she never learn? ‘But she is very beautiful and rich and famous and on another level. Why wouldn’t anyone be attracted to her?’
Conversely, then, why would anyone be interested in Lola?
Jake’s jaw stiffened, his eyes blazing in the streetlight, his grip on her arm firm. ‘I am not attracted to Cameron Fontaine.’
‘Then you must be blind.’
Strangely, out of nowhere a smile formed on his lips. ‘Oh, no, my vision is perfect.’
‘Then you must be gay.’ Please, for the love of all women, including Cameron Fontaine if absolutely necessary, do not be gay.
‘No way.’ He stepped closer, so she could see his chest rising and falling, could feel the warmth of his breath on her skin. Could smell the most exquisite scent of man and medicine and spice.
‘Then what…?’
‘Then this.’ And he was suddenly too close. Not close enough. He pulled her to face him and his fingertips lifted her chin. ‘This, Lola.’
His mouth pressed against hers, gently at first, and her body responded in a flush of heat that pooled deep in her core. Every part of her craved him, craved to touch him, to kiss him, to feel him against her.
Initial instinct told her that she shouldn’t kiss him back, but something deeper, something intense had her opening her mouth and tasting him. And he tasted good. So good. She felt as inquisitive as the doomed teenagers stepping into the dark basement, and as filled with adrenalin. Knowing, like them, she was headed to disaster but doing it anyway.
She wound her arms around his neck and pulled him closer as his tongue slid past her lips, stoking the furnace that had lit inside her. She moaned at the pleasure of him filling her mouth, of the curling clench in her gut, at the sensations that ran up and down her spine, just being in his arms.
Leaning her against her car door, his hands cupped her face and he pressed harder against her, kissing her open-mouthed and wet and hungry. She could feel how much he wanted her. How much he wanted something from her.
And like listening to an old-fashioned vinyl record scratching to a stop, she felt a visceral catch as her body stiffened. She put her hands on his chest and pushed a little away from him. ‘Stop. No. This…this isn’t…’
‘What is it? What’s wrong?’ But he didn’t let her go as he hauled in deep ragged breaths, kissed the top of her head and stayed close.
‘I can’t stop thinking about Cameron and there are too many questions racing in my head. Too many reasons not to do this. Please, I think you should just go.’
‘Lola, believe me, this is not about Cameron. She is the furthest thing from my mind. I don’t want to go. I want to stay right here, doing this.’

Louisa is giving away a copy of her book to one lucky commenter!  So her question to you is:

Who would play you in the movie of your life- and why?

Come back next Sunday, when the winner of today's giveaway will be announced -- and a smooch from Kate Hardy's Holiday With The Best Man will be posted!

London Calling

Whoever said when a man is tired of London he is tired of life sure knew what he was talking about! It's a city I just keep coming back to. And I'm here again. So what does one do in London when all the major tourist spots have been ticked off?

Have lunch at The Shard with fabulous editor.

Eat a Chelsea bun (in fact consume a butt load - literally - of carbs)  Stop at every pub you can find!

And indulge in some High Tea with fabulous English authors. The lovely Kate Hardy corralled us all and nine of us had tea at a posh hotel. RITA nominee Heidi Rice, Fiona Harper, Annie Claydon, Annie O'Neill, Caroline Anderson, Jennifer Taylor, Lucy King and, of course, Kate and I. It was particularly fabulous to meet up with Caroline and Jennifer who were my go-to medical authors when I was exploring the genre. And I'm still loving their books over a decade later!

Tomorrow we head to Rome but I'll be back London. I'll always be back! xxxx

And now for today's Sunday Smooch from Italian Surgeon To The Stars

Celebrity heart surgeon Dr Alessandro Lucioni may be gorgeous, but I will never forget what we shared in Paris five years ago or how he broke my heart! Except now he’s standing in front of me, asking for my help with his young niece - and determined to pick up where we left off! But this time I won’t be his consolation prize. I will remain strong! Yet with the memories of those magical, blazing nights swirling through my mind, he’s just so very hard to resist…

Scene set-up

Alone with Alessandro in the car, Jem goads him into thinking that she slept with many men since they broke off and pretends she was not hurt by their break up five years earlier. He retaliates by stopping the car…

Smooch  -

The engine hadn’t even died when Alessandro’s strong arms pulled me towards him and his mouth came crashing down on mine.

His mouth tasted of mint and anger and lust and longing. The same intense longing I could feel throbbing through my own veins. His lips moved over mind with devastating expertise, demanding I open to him with a bold stab of his tongue.

I had recklessly taunted the tiger and now I was experiencing the full force of his reaction. And, quite frankly, I was loving every pulse-racing second of it.

I received him with a sound of approval that came from somewhere deep inside of me. I wound my arms around his neck, fisting my hands into the thickness of his hair, and kissed him back with all the pent-up passion that had been lying in hibernation for what seemed most of my life.

His freshly shaved jaw scraped the skin of my face as he changed position to deepen the kiss. His arms relaxed their iron grip on me and moved to cup one of my breasts in a caressing and yet possessive movement that made my insides twist and contort with lust. His other hand went to the nape of my neck, under my hair. He knew instinctively it was one of my most sensitive erogenous zones. As his fingers moved in amongst those finer hairs, I tingled all over and my toes curled in my shoes.

He slowly pulled back from me but my lips clung to his as if they didn’t want to let him go. He cradled my face in his hands - a gesture that was sure to win any girl’s heart, in my opinion. I looked into his molasses-dark eyes that were glittering with hot-blooded desire and felt another fissure open like a fault line in the cold, hard armour around my heart…

And now for today's Sunday Smooch from It Happened One Night Shift

http://www.amazon.com/Happened-One-Night-Shift-ebook/dp/B00O93CL6U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420195605&sr=8-1&keywords=it+happened+one+night+shift

Five years ago brooding ex-military medic Gareth Stapleton lost his beloved wife to breast cancer. Since then, he's kept his distance from everything and everyone. Until Dr Billie Ashworth-Keyes waltzes into his life and turns it upside-down… Gareth is intrigued by the vivacious ER doc, but he knows she's off-limits. Then, one night shift, Gareth finds himself locked in the hottest kiss of his life! Suddenly, he realises that Billie is exactly what he needs to make his days - and nights - a lot more meaningful!

Scene set-up

Billie and Gareth (my first ever male nurse hero - soooo excited!!) have just fought and lost the battle to save a young man's life and Billie is thrown by it. Gareth goes to her place to check she's okay and one thing leads to another...

“Do you want another beer?” she asked as the silence grew between them.
Gareth roused himself. Two beers around this woman would not be a wise move. He’d been dreaming about her in his bed for days now. The last thing he needed was anything that loosened his inhibitions and ruined his common sense. “No. I should get going.”
Billie quelled the urge to protest the notion out loud. She didn’t want him to go. And she didn’t think he wanted to go either.
He hadn’t come in and sat opposite her and spent the whole time lecturing her about getting too involved in her job whilst drinking tea. He’d sat next to her, drunk a beer, listened to her talk.
And he’d been right. It was better to be around people who understood how you were feeling after a particularly harrowing day at work. People who had been right there, side-by-side with you.
They were debriefing. Being human.
But she wanted more. And maybe, for tonight – after everything she’d been through today - that was possible?
His palm was flat against his leg and Billie tentatively slid her hand onto his. “Don’t go.”

Gareth looked down at Billie’s hand. It was pale compared to his. There were no rings. No finger nail polish. No fuss. Just like the rest of her.
His heart thrummed in his chest. Not just at her touch but at what she was offering. He swallowed hard. His interest was already making itself felt inside his underwear.
There were only so many denials in him.
He looked up at her, his speech ready to go on his lips, the words he’d said to her the other morning in the car about being in different places easy to repeat. But she didn’t give him the chance. She edged closer, pushed her hand higher.
“Gareth,” she murmured.
And any words he’d been about to say died on his lips as she pressed her mouth to his.
He sucked in a breath at her boldness and his senses filled with her. Not banana daiquiri this time. Something much more seductive. Red wine and lip gloss. Every nerve ending in his belly snapped taut as her mouth opened, her tongue touched his bottom lip. She pressed herself closer, her thigh aligning with his, her shoulder brushing his.
“Kiss me,” she whispered, her lips leaving his, travelling along the line of his jaw, nuzzling his ear lobe, pulling it into her mouth. A hot flush of goose bumps prickled at his skin and he shut his eyes to their seduction.
“Kiss me,” she repeated, her breath hot in his ear, her voice a sexy whimper, full and wanton. “I know I shouldn’t want you,” she groaned, her lips heading back to his mouth. “But I can’t stop.”
Her mouth claimed his again and there was nothing light and teasing about it. She opened her mouth and dragged him in, sucking him into the kiss and dumping him in the middle of a thousand carnal delights.
The slim thread of his resistance snapped so loud Gareth swore it could be heard ricocheting off the walls. He groaned, stabbed his fingers into her hair and yanked her head closer.
“Damn it, Billie.”
And then he had the con. The kiss was his to master and he did, taking control, steering the course, opening his mouth wide and demanding she do the same. Seeking her tongue and finding it, duelling with it. He grabbed her then, sliding his hands around her waist, pulling her towards him, putting his hand on a knee, parting her legs, urging her to straddle him which she did with complete abandon, rubbing herself against him as their hips aligned perfectly.
Her hands glided to his cheeks as he settled her onto him and from her vantage point above him she returned his kiss. Twisting her head to meet his demands, moaning when his tongue thrust inside her. Would this be how she sounded when his tongue thrust inside her at a point significantly lower than her mouth?
Would she moan? Would she whimper? Would she gasp?
Would she squirm against him like she was now, trying to ramp up the friction between them by rubbing herself back and forth along the length of his erection?
He didn’t know. But he sure as hell wanted to find out.
