Hours of Fun by Amy Andrews

My name is Amy Andrews and I am a Snapchat addict. Dont worry, I'm in therapy and taking medication for it.

I'm not a very high tech person. Anything that requires an app makes me nervous and usually also annoyed. And I stay way the hell away from any kind of "game" because I know my addictive personality and its tendencies too well!

But every now and then tech comes along that's just plain old fun and I can get behind that. All you need is a phone with a camera and the app. All the kids use Snapchat to have secret conversations that disappear after ten seconds like something from a bad 50's TV spy show but me? I like it for the filters!

SO. MUCH. FUN. And so easy to use and muck around with!

They can make you look mysterious, funky and even ballerina-esque.

They can make you look as if Christian Grey has just shown you into his red room. And oh how much I wish I actually owned this shade of lipstick!

 They're super-duper fun with two!

And oh dear oh dear, if you have a baby present? You can waste HOURS!!! of your life!

They also have these really cool filters that can celebrate things or even show off where you are.

See? HOURS and hours and hours of fun!

So...now I've shared my app addiction, what's yours? Are you a closet candy crusher or flappy bird addict?

  1. Oh Amy

I do love seeing your snapchat photos my daughter has it and when the grandkids are around they have so much fun with it I have not got it, it would be too addictive and besides the grandkids would always have my phone :)

About the only thing I am addicted to is reading and there just is not enough hours in the day for me to keep up with all of the fabulous books that are out there at the moment :)

    Have Fun
    Helen

  2. Oh, dear, I don't have Snapchat...but it does look fun.

Seems to me I can waste too much time playing Solitaire and hanging out on FB. But my real addiction is the Domain App, where I check out gorgeous properties all over the country. I mean I was just in Jindabyne...and then in Melbourne near beautiful Yarra Glen. It therefore became necessary to just peek at what gorgeousness might be available in those areas, right? ;-)

  3. The filters are so much fun! I love the dog nose and ears :D

I don't have snapchat, but I do love Instagram now that they have the "stories" function. No cool filters like that, but I love the sneak peek into people's lives.

I must admit I play Candy Crush. It's the perfect distraction when I need to while away a few minutes, but I am able to put it down after one level. Thankfully!

    1. I'm using instagram more and more, Stefanie. I love how those filters can make a mediocre shot look really spec!
I haven't used the "stories" thing yet - am afraid it'll become another obsession...

  4. That looks like so much fun. Must stay away, since I spend all my free time on FB so I guess that is my addiction and catching up with everyone. Actually I find the Internet addictive lol :) Then there is Pinterest spent hours there looking and searching for just the right picture for my newest ideas. Love that site. :D

  5. Oh, AA, I have one of those addictive personalities as well so try to stay well away from temptation. Naturally I'm not always successful. My favourite game is Bejewelled because I can flip between different games depending on whether I want a quick fix of a long lazy game while watching something on TV.

My sister-in-law is trying to get me addicted to Snapchat and I'm steadfastly refusing to put in the hard yards to learn how it functions. I do enjoy receiving her family video messages but hate how they disappear. Suspect I was born the wrong decade for this one!

  7. Amy, what terrific pics! I can see why you adore it. And I know I need to steer clear. I'm well aware of my ability to spend too much time doing stuff that tempts with the possibility of just one more go... Sigh. I'll leave this to you and enjoy the pics.

  9. I can't say that I have any particular app addiction since I try to keep most of the apps on my phone to functional ones. That said, I suspect that this may change when I do replace my ereader with a tablet device.
While snapchat's messages are supposed to disappear, what some teens forget is that the person receiving the message can take a screenshot before a message disappears.
I don't personally have snapchat, but I might have to download it for the filters. Love the ones you have shared.

    1. Yes, thats true about the screen shot - I screen shot a lot of my daughters snaps but it does tell you if anyone has taken a screen shot so thats something I guess!
