Party Time! Welcoming New Love Cat, Bronwyn Jameson!

It's party time here at the LoveCats DownUnder and what a party! It's our absolute thrill to welcome our newest LoveCat: the multi-talented, great-with-animals, gifted author, BRONWYN JAMESON.

Yay! There's great excitement here as we welcome Bronwyn, one of the stars of Harlequin Desire, to our group. We're celebrating with some fantastic give aways, but more about those soon.

Bronwyn is a personal heroine of mine. She's a triple RITA finalist and nominee for the Romantic Times Series Storyteller of the year. She's a bestseller whose books are loved worldwide. If you don't know her stories and want to find out more, here's a link to her website. Her support of other writers resulted in her recently being awarded life membership of Romance Writers of Australia.

As you can see, we've taken the opportunity of Bronwyn's welcome party to launch our new look website. Isn't it lovely? We're so pleased with the results and of course, welcome your thoughts on how well it works for you. We're also launching a LoveCats DownUnder FaceBook page.

But in the meantime, let's get this party on the road by interviewing our newest LoveCat. Bronwyn took time out to answer a few questions. Here she is:

1) Does anyone with fur, feathers or scales share your life now, or in the past?

I live on a farm so am surrounded by fur, feathers, scales and particularly wool.  I'm a bit of a horse nut.  Currently we have eight with another (baby) due in a few weeks time.  Mum's name is Jenna and right now her baby bump is huge.  I have a Jack Russell, imaginatively named Jack, who is rather talkative and boisterous and all those other fabulous JR traits.  He believes it is his duty to keep the "scales" population down in summer, which is REALLY stressful given the venomous strike of the eastern brown snake.  L

Horse baby (Floo)

2) Even though you're now a Cat, if you could be any mythological creature, which one would you be?

Pegasus.  A horse.  That flies.  How cool would that be?

3) What was the first category book you read?

Not the first category book – I devoured the serialised Mills & Boons in my mum's English Woman's Weeklys from a tender age – but the first Desire I read was Private Reasons by Justine Davis.  It featured an uptight hero with dark secrets, a strong free-spirited heroine, a troubled teenager and a totally cool black horse.  Also hay, jeans and hot attraction.  I loved this book in the 90s and, in a recent re-read, loved it all over again.

4) What was the last category book you read that you loved?

I've just finished Driving Her Crazy by Amy Andrews, a fun and funny road trip starring a cranky photographer and a smart-mouthed journalist (she drives him more than a little crazy.)  But beneath the banter there are real issues, which give the story depth and strength.  Loved it.

5) What's something we wouldn't know about you?

Hmm.  Did you know I was on Wheel of Fortune (twice) and won a car?

6) We all know you as a wonderful Harlequin Desire author. In honour of your arrival the other LoveCats are giving away some fantastic ‘Items of Desire’ as prizes today. Can you share with us your own favourite Item of Desire?

Not so much an item, but one of my favourite things is travel and I wish I could travel like my Desire characters, with private jets and limousines and five-star hotels and concierges at my beck and call.  First class travel is the object of my desire.

Thanks, Bronwyn. Wow, you must have had nerves of steel to make it onto Wheel of Fortune twice! That's so impressive. It's wonderful to have you on board as a LoveCat. We know you're going to fit right in.

  1. I love the new website! I really like the author's pictures across the top. I'm really happy there is a new Love Cat. Hi Bronwyn!

I'd really like a jacuzzi bathtub. I'd love to travel as well and it wouldn't even have to be first class.

  3. Hi Kaelee. Love that you're first to the party and to welcome me to the Lovecats. I'm super thrilled to be here with some of my favourite people who happen to write wonderful romance.

Oh, I would love a jacuzzi as well. On the deck. With views. (We can dream, right?)

How fabulous and pretty is the new design? Raising my glass (even though it's still breakfast time in Australia!) to Rachel and Sharon who are responsible.

  4. Hi Bron! *waves frantically from across the ditch!*

It's sooo good to have you here and I loved reading your interview. I think my favourite object of desire is time to enjoy the good things in life.

    1. Waving back at you, Yvonne. Hope you can see from all the way over there!

Since it has taken all day for me to find the time to get back in here today, I am definitely hearing you on "time" being the ultimate object of desire. If only we could manufacture more!

I'm just re-energising after a frantic day with...you guessed it...chocolate. Thank heavens I found some stashed away!

  6. Hi Bronwyn, Welcome to the blog and back into writing.
Hmmm, it's hard to choose, but in the here and now, it would have to be an unlimited supply of chocolate and biscuits.
Otherwise, my object of desire would be a cosy place to read along with lots of reading time.

Thanks to Barbara for giving me a heads up about this a couple of weeks ago.

Also, I'm loving the new layout - having the authors across the top makes it much easier to see who blogs here.

  7. Hi Bronwyn... Welcome to the LoveCats!

My objects of desire are: travel with unlimited budget, a jacuzzi hot tub and good quality chocolate.

Hey, I love your objects of desire - travel with an unlimited budget is inspired! It covers pretty much everything doesn't it!

  8. My favorite object of desire right now is a big fat strawberry cheesecake. I'm on a low carb diet right now because of blood sugar and I'm finding it hard to give up everything I like. Sigh, I'm sure I'll eventually get used to it but it seems like every other commercial on television is for something I can't have. It really sucks. Anyway, welcome and I love your books.

    1. Oh, yum, Linda. Two of my favourite things right there: strawberries and cheesecake. And would you believe that I'm about to try low-carb? Today is my middle son's birthday so there's cake (and chocolate) and I put off the start of the new eating plan until tomorrow. We can bemoan the lack of cheesecake together while reassuring ourselves that it's worth it for the sake of our health.

(And thank you for loving my books.)

  9. Ooh, love the fresh new website today. It's one thing seeing the draft and another seeing it real and live.

So glad to welcome you, Bron. It's an absolute joy to have you here as a LoveCat! The photos you're sharing are terrific. I'm imagining your little dog Jack taking on a brown snake and scarily, I can see it vividly.

Kaelee, that hot tub sounds gorgeous, even though it's morning here. Any excuse to relax. Actually, that private plane sounds good for unlimited travel. I'm avoiding the whole chocolate issue as too hard to resist.

For me, the ultimate object of desire would be a Tardis. I'd love to be able to get in and seconds later walk out somewhere else - but only if I got to choose where it was. Wouldn't it make travel a breeze?

    1. Annie, thank you so much for putting this blog together and for welcoming me to the LoveCats. (Unfortunately, your image of the Jack+snake scenario is probably rather too accurate. The vet knows us well.)

  10. Hi Bron! So good to "see" you again. It's still September 1st here and I just finished grilling a steak for dinner. I know it sounds rather ordinary compared to jets and jacuzzi tubs, but I'd love to have a charcoal grill right outside the door. As it is I have to haul everything -- charcoal, lighter fluid, matches, food and utensils and water to put out the coals when I'm done -- to the picnic area at the end of my building. My apartment has a patio but fire code prevents having a grill on it. I love the taste of food cooked over charcoal.

Anyway, that's my desire -- at least for today. *grin*

    1. Marilyn! Waving with much excitement (even though I know it's middle of the night in your part of the world) because it is so lovely to "see" you again.

I don't think the desire for a grill right outside your door is ordinary at all. Not when *that's* what would light your fire (excuse the pun) right now. With September has come spring to my corner of the world and with the beautiful weather I'm thinking of firing up the BBQ tonight. We also love food cooked over charcoal.

  11. Congratulations on the new look site - it's beautiful! And welcome, Bronwyn! This wonderful group just keeps getting better.

My object of desire is a writing retreat. (That counts as an object?) Preferably in a heritage house overlooking Sydney Harbour, with a window seat for my writing spot. Failing that, any writing retreat, anywhere.

    1. Thank you, Claire. It is a rather wonderful group, isn't it? And I totally get your object of desire (and, yes, if time can be an object and travel can be an object, then a place for a specific means can be as well) and wish I could be there with you.

Bron, what a great interview. I didn't know that about you and Wheel of Fortune. What a claim to fame! I'm with you on the travel thing - an unlimited budget, unlimited time and NO jet lag would be my fantasy!

However, one I would really like would be to have supersonic fast travel so I could pop back to England (from NZ) to catch up with all my lovely family and friends more frequently. Welcome Bronwyn and what a great new look Ladies I love it :)

What I would desire at the moment is another cruise (sorry Rachel)Hubby has just come out of hospital and I think a cruise would brighten us both up and think of all the reading time I would have on a deck chair with a waiter bring me cocktails that would be the life.

  17. Hello all!

LOVE the website! Great design. Your dog is such a handsome fellow, Bronwyn! I have my own snake hunter here in Alabama. Clyde gets bitten at least once a year. Fortunately he is a HUGE dog (Clyde is short for Clydesdale) and some Bendryl and a trip to the vet fixes him right up. He never learns!

My objects of desire would have to include - a LONG research trip to the UK, a lovely thatched cottage built on my property, and any Regency research books I don't have!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Louisa, you'd better be careful. I know so many people who'd want to tag along on the UK research trip.

I shuddered when you mentioned Clyde getting bitten by snakes. Aren't they very venomous? The variety we get in my neck of the woods would sadly be the end of any dog. Hope he's fine this season.

      Delete
    2. Hi Louisa.

Clyde sounds like a much larger version of my Jack, because despite the many bites and trips to dog ICU, he does not learn. Not even in the same summer. He just cannot help himself when it comes to hunting and I imagine your Clyde is the same. I love his name, BTW.

Can we all come visit you in that thatched cottage? :-)

  19. Hi Bron! Great interview and what a cheeky looking Jack!

The object I have been desiring lately is a push bike. One of those old vintage looking ones with the wide handle bars and basket on the front. Found one this morning and bought it =) Got a matching one for my 8 year old too. So I guess now the thing I desire is the energy and motivation to ride it! haha, always something we want that we don't have...

  22. Bronwyn! Welcome to the LoveCats! It's so awesome to have you join us! I loved learning these things about you - from your wonderful, growing horse herd to being on Wheel of Fortune - TWICE! AND won a car! You can obviously think clearly under pressure!

Actually, I could choose being able to think under pressure as my object-of-desire! But I'm going to go with an uncluttered office instead! I'm so organised everywhere else but I just don't seem to be able to control my office-space! and the really hard thing is that I'm the only person responsible for the state of it! ARGH! LOL!

    Replies
    1. Hi Sharon. I think I've said this before but I am SOOO thrilled to be part of the Lovecats.

I probably should mention that my Wheel of Fortune adventure was several decades ago and I totally do not think well under pressure these days. Which makes my success on that show all the more amazing. (I suspect there was a ton of luck involved!)

An uncluttered office is definitely worthy of desire. But then you'd need the time to do it and there's always something more urgent and/or important isn't there? (Like reading, for example.)

      Delete
    2. LOL, Bronwyn! You know you're absolutely right! If I found the time to clear up my office I would almost certainly want to spend it doing something else... like reading. In fact, that's probably how it got into this state in the first place - too many other fun things to do!

  23. Welcome to the LoveCats, Bronwyn! I love this site.

The thing I desire the most (apart from health and happiness for my family and friends) is to take another trip to Italy, visit all my favourite places by got to all the places I've not been yet and finish up with a ski in the alps. Ahh, I'm floating away there right now.
A more mundane desire (although, fabulous for me) would be to have a house cleaner and gardener every week to take care of all the things that need taking care of so that I could write more.

  34. Bronwyn, welcome WELCOME to the LoveCats! We're all so thrilled you're here - you can tell because we made over the entire blog to celebrate you joining us. :)

I love the photo of Jack - makes me want to scoop him up. I bet he does the best wriggly cuddles.

My favourite object of desire? I would have said a good book (with the time to leisurely read it) and some chocolate to savour while reading. But now I see all the other great suggestions and I want to change my answer to a T.A.R.D.I.S..

    1. Hello, Rachel, and thank you (and all the LoveCats) for allowing my welcome to piggyback on the launch of the new-look site. It's such a privilege to be here.

To be honest, Jack is not much for the cuddles. They're always wriggly ones, although he does love a scratch, which is about the only time he can bear to be still. Needless to say.

    2. My little Jack x, Fergus, is also very wriggly and loves a scratch. But I'm afraid he's had me as his human since he was too young to be away from his mother (dumped), so he's had to come to terms with being cuddled. Though, they're usually quite wriggly cuddles - you can't take the Jack out of the dog. ;)

  35. Welcome, welcome, welcome, Bronwyn! It's so GREAT to see you here! I'm positive you'll have a blast here, just like the rest of us.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Rachel and Sharon, for doing such a lovely job on this web site! It's soothing and easy on the eyes.
Speaking of easy on the eyes, we come to the question of the day. My FIRST response re favorite object of desire was my husband of 32 years; I love it when he gets that twinkle in his eyes when I'm the only one in his line of sight. My SECOND thought, though, since I'm VERY lucky to HAVE the first object of desire, would be George Clooney. I have "desired" him (and he IS a sex "object") since his ER days. OMG; a girl can dream (which is the whole point of reading my romances, duh!).

  36. Hello Laney and thank you so much for the warm welcome. Isn't the new look beautiful? I'm going to thank Rachel and Sharon all over again for all their work in making that happen.

How diplomatic you are, in making your lovely husband #1 ahead of gorgeous George. I feel an instant bond with you, being also 32 years married, and having a tendre for GC. He also does a mighty fine eye twinkle, does he not?

  37. Hi Bronwyn, great to see you here! I love your books, and still think about your very first one - Addicted to Nick. Love it!

My object of desire is peace and quiet. Sounds weird I guess, but with three grandchildren living with me for the past ten years (yes, I'm bringing them up) peace and quiet is something that's sadly lacking.

Doesn't cost much, but definitely the thing I desire the most at times!!

  38. Bron, can't tell you how delighted I am that you've joined the LoveCats -- Yay!

So sorry to be late to the party -- I had an ABBA CD all lined up to go into the sound system along with a tray of hot cinnamon doughnuts too to spread the love and party atmosphere. But, let's cut to the chase -- YOU WON A CAR!!! That is fabulous and brilliant. Speaking of cars, I think sports cars are to die for. If I could afford it they'd definitely be my object of desire. For the time being I'll content myself with something a little less expensive like handbags. I just lurve me a funky handbag. :-)
