It's my birthday and you get the pressies!

So, it's my birthday!! I've had a lot of the little beggars in my life but I still get that funny little feeling when I see the 6th of November as if the day was invented just for me. :) I shouldn't say I love getting presents but I will. A flower from the garden, a cake baked by one of my kids or something in pretty paper makes me swoon. I do love GIVING pressies too so today I have a few for you. Some of the apps that I couldn't do without in my life.

Since I am getting so old I need lots of apps to get me moving. I love my Fitbit and the Fitbit app connects to my Fitbit and gives me all sorts of information including how many steps I've done, calories burned, even how I sleep! (which was terrible last night BTW, must have been birthday excitement).
Connected to my FitBit is my FitStar app. This really is like having personal trainer in your pocket. There are lots of interactive workouts that are custom made for me. As it links with my Fitbit all my exercise info is in the one place. There is a free part to the app or you can pay $10 a month and get a full range of personalized programmes. It's REALLY motivating.

While I'm struggling through all my exercise, and because I'm trying to minimize my wrinkles I'm trying to drink more water and have been using this great app to remind me to drink! It's called Water Tracker. I also have a little alarm on my Fitbit which quietly vibrates to keep me on track (do I sound like a crazy woman yet??)
Finally, this is one of my all time favourite apps - iAllowance. It helps organize kids' pocket money and also makes them do chores! They can have a version on their phone/ipad etc and tick off their jobs. When that's done, pocket money goes into their virtual bank. It's changed my life!

And one final little pressie for you. All of the Entangled Bliss books are on sale until the end of today
for 99c! You can visit the Entangled Site here or my Amazon page here

I'd love to know your favourite apps!! Cheers.

  1. Happy birthday, Barbara. I hope you're spoiled rotten by all your family. I've seen you in action with your apps. :) I find them quite daunting, and yet every time you pop one out for us to see I wish I had the patience to get one or two of them.

  3. Happy birthday, Barb! Wishing you a fabulous day!

My fave app at the moment is Duolingo. I'm trying to learn German (just because). It's become a little addictive. :-)

  4. Happy Birthday Barbara. I hear you on that funny feeling, and I'll be up to my 32nd one next month. Hope you had a good day and have an enjoyable weekend planned for it.

Apps - the first one that I download when getting a new phone is Goodreads - I have to have access to my reading list, and helps to record that book I want to add to my reading and to buy list on the go. Aside from that I can't say I have a specific favourite - there are a number of apps that I use that I like having on my phone because they do exactly what I need them to do, but if my situation was to change they might not still be on my phone as they may not be needed.

    1. Thanks so much for the wishes, Helen. I think you'd love the iAllowance with the grandees. They can tick their jobs off on their own version of the app and then you can go through and decide if they did them well enough. It's a great power tool!

  6. Happy birthday Barb! You share a biorthday with my dear mum whjo wojuld have been 71 today - its a bittersweet day for me.

I've had a fitbit for about 2 months now. I dont use the app and resent the weekly updates to remind me I've been a lazy arse. Its turning into a very expensive watch :-)

Not much of an APP person but I did, just this last week buy my first APP from the app store - Uber. I think I'm in love with Uber!

  8. Happy birthday for the 6th, Barb. I'm so impressed with your apps!

I've recently bough a FitBit - or unFitBit in my case! It's interesting how that little bit of technology has started to make me want to do more exercise. I'm a convert! I look forward to that 10,000 step buzz - though it came yesterday when I was gardening and about to reach into a pile of rocks rather gingerly because of the possibility of a snakes. I got a big fright!

  9. uugh, I don't like the sound of snakes in your rockery, Sharon! I love my little Fitbit and nearly died of fright when I found it in my laundry pile almost ready to go through a wash. I'll friend you and we can reach ur goals together!
